Siva Dancing on Ponsonby Road

Join Samoan Pasifika street historians the Pua Brothers for a stroll along Ponsonby Road and learn about the Pasifika migration to Ponsonby.

Close family linkages, employment opportunities and population pressure on some islands led many Pacific people to migrate to Auckland – and many settled in Ponsonby

Hear about Pacific urban migration,  dawn raids on overstayers, Polynesian Panthers,  and Sione’s Wedding (the movie).

This lively and fun guided walk will honour the Pacific urban history of Ponsonby with Pacific music and siva dancing – yes, there’ll be dancing in the street!

Sun 13 Oct, 11am-12.30pm
